Easy and fun "clay" stones for toddlers

This past week we've been busy in the kitchen having fun, making messes and creating memories. My sons loved every moment of this project and can't wait to do it again. =)

For this simple project you will need:
1 Cup of Flour
1 Cup of Salt
1/2 Cup of Water
And some little helping hands
(This is enough for two round stones)

-Preheat over to 200 degrees
-Mix all your ingredients together
-Rub flour all over your hands and start kneading
*The dough will be sticky so make sure you keep covering your hands in flour! 8-)
-Round the dough and smooth it out

-Cover your child's hand in flour (don't forget in between their tiny fingers!) and gently push down on the dough.
-Done! Now, place the dough on a baking sheet and bake for 3-6 hours. I ran out of time and only "baked" our stones for 3 hours. The next day I "baked" them again for another hour and now they're nice and solid.

I let my sons paint their hand stones and now we came up with this little poem:

Take my hand Daddy and guide the way
Hold my hand Daddy, I hope to be like you some day
Take my hand Daddy and teach me wrong from right
Hold my hand Daddy and protect me day and night
Take my hand Daddy and I will forever be by your side
Hold my hand Daddy I will be your joy and pride
We're going to print it up and frame it then place their hand stones on a plate display holder and give it to their father as a Valentines day gift. I will update my blog with the finish look later. =)

For these cute little stones we used the same amount of mix.
I took wax paper and layered it with some flour and my boys covered their hands in flour

We rolled out our dough and used cookie cutters

These guys are a lot thinner than the stones so I'm baking them for about 2 hours. Once they cool off my little artist will start painting them.

We will be giving these cute lil stones away with some candy grams for Valentine's day! =)
